If I Could Just Pour Out My Heart

     Jesus’ visit with mankind was unlike any before or since. Human comforts mattered little to one whose mission drove Him to knock at the hearts of humble abodes.

      Expedia might describe our Lord’s typical accommodations as less than 1-star, low-expense, with few amenities while offering authentic experience.

      And so He knocked at the heart of the woman at the well; at the heart of Mary Magdalene; at the heart of Peter — always with answers and pointing to His followers’ best potential.

     Hearts! That’s what’s at the bottom! To whom do we pour out our hearts? Who hears our disappointments? our regrets? our pleas?

     Look around at cafe tables. Others, as they’re nibbling lunch, may appear to be sharing concerns as they speak softly, gently wiping tears. Our world is full of broken hearts.

     We need more than talk with today’s feature of chicken salad croissant. Jesus’ heart-to-hearts with His friends were unlike any we’ve ever had downtown over raspberry tea. Our wisest of friends will advise, “Have a talk with Jesus.”

     And so He knocks, and He waits for us to open — to pour out our hearts.

                Give Me Your Heart

1 “Give Me thy heart,” says the Father above.
No gift so precious to Him as our love;
Softly He whispers, wherever thou art,
“Gratefully trust Me, and give Me thy heart.”

Refrain:
“Give Me thy heart, give Me thy heart,”
Hear the soft whisper, wherever thou art:
From this dark world He would draw thee apart;
Speaking so tenderly, “Give Me thy heart.”

2 “Give Me thy heart,” says the Savior of men,
Calling in mercy again and again;
“Turn now from sin, and from evil depart,
Have I not died for thee? Give Me thy heart.” (Refrain)

3 “Give Me thy heart,” says the Spirit divine,
“All that thou hast, to My keeping resign;
Grace more abounding is Mine to impart,
Make full surrender and give Me thy heart.” (Refrain)
